Rules of the road
Learning South Africa’s Rules of the Road is a vital part of getting your K53 Learner's Licence. There are around 30 questions on Rules of the Road in the Learners Licence Test, and learners need to score 74% (22/30) or higher in the section in order to pass it. South Africa’s Rules of the Road may look like a lot to learn, but don’t worry, they’re not too bad once you get into “learner's test” mode and get started. You probably know a lot of the rules already! (such as… don’t drive on the wrong side of the road!) If you read 4 – 5 sections a day, you’ll be well on your way to your Learner's Licence in no time! The Learner's Test is not difficult, but it does require that you study. These Rules of the Road were kindly provided by the Department of Transport, and are K53-compliant. If you make use of any other resources to study, make sure they comply with the K53 Learner's Test rules before utilizing them. Remember, you are not just learning these rules to get your Learner's License, but also to become a competent driver, so make sure you really understand them! You'll need to know them for your Driver's License Test, and if you plan on using a driving instructor, they will expect you to know them for your lessons.

Road Signs
Welcome! Here you can study all of the K53 South African Road Signs and Markings. You’ll need to know most of these signs for your Learner's License Test, and it is advisable to know all of them in order to become a good driver and pass your future Driver’s License Test - you never know which traffic signs you might come across during your test! There are around 30 questions on South Africa's Road Signs in the Learners test, and learners need to achieve 77% (23/30) or higher in order to pass it. Some learners have trouble remembering all the different South African Road Signs and what they mean. An easy way to study them for your learner’s test is to learn what certain types of Road Signs look like. For example, Action Command signs tend to be round, blue signs with white boarders; these signs command learners and drivers to do certain things, such as keep left or that only busses may drive here. Once you have learned some basic rules about Road Signs for your test, you can generally figure out what the signs are saying. You need to know your road signs for both your Learner's and Driver's License Tests - if you choose to take driving lessons with an instructor, they will expect you to know your road signs well enough to drive safely on the road.
